JP Giacomini Dressage Saddle
Gorgeous JP Giacomini dressage saddle. Made by Andy Foster (Lauriche). The Giacomini saddles are extremely high quality saddles that were made in very limited production by Andy Foster for JP Giacomini. They are known for placing riders in a classical position. The stirrup hanger/bar is set farther back placing the leg in an ideal position. The wider seat is heavily padded and extremely comfortable even for hours in the saddle. Most Giacomini riders will tell you this is one of THE most comfortable saddles ever made. It's my understanding that Andy Foster will still work on these saddles, if any adjustments are needed. They originally sold for $6000.00!!
This saddle is GOOD CONDITION! Tree: About a Medium-wide. The tree is narrow at the top but the tree points spread out quickly. Seat: Seat measures 17.5" to the edge of the cantle. The seat is heavily padded in front of the cantle, so it actually measures 17" or slightly under where the seat ends. Flaps: The flaps measure just under 15" from the stirrup bar down. This saddle has a thin small block for support without sacrificing close contact. Billet Straps: The billets are in good condition as well and show little wear. Panels: This saddle has thick foam panels, with a nice, broad surface area. Nice 3-4 finger gullet for spinal clearance. Color: Dark brown, very pretty. Leather: Lovely english leather (or could be Buffalo seat and knee pads?? - I have been told). Year of Manufacture: This saddle is older (Serial Number: 1 over 0765 - see pic ) but it does not show its age much at all. These saddles tend to hold up incredibly well and this one has been gently used over the years. Condition: Good condition with very light wear. Light rubs on the flaps from stirrup leathers and some light seat edge wear. It is a little dry right now from being stored (in house, in a/c) but should come back nicely with more conditioning and regular use. There is a slight scratch on the left skirt (see pic) and two ever so slight hair-like scatches on left saddle flap.
Production was stopped on these saddles in the 90's and finding one in this condition is almost impossible. The JP saddles have an extremely loyal following and most of them have been heavily used and need repairs. This is most likely one of the last ones left in this good of condition!
