A/K/A "Jasmine" . . . Imported Frieisian Mare . . .

“Jasmine”  was imported as a 6 year old from the Netherlands. She is a Jurjen daughter. She has had 3 colts and 1 filly. Her first filly was by Heinse 354 named Giselle, foaled in 2002, was Champion filly at the keuring in the Netherlands and was a 2nd Premie.  Her second foal, a colt, was also a 2nd Premium and the third, a colt imported in utero, was not taken to the keuring (he was sold as a weanling and the new owner did not take him).

Her fourth foal by Tsjerk 328 was a colt named Montego (in videos below) and had not been keurred at the time I purchased this mare because FHANA lost his paperwork (he has since been DNA typed, microchipped and should have been presented as a 3 year old).  Montego started his dressage training in February 2008 with USDF Gold Medal Rider Sabrina Wood showing and winning at First Level.  He is ready to show Second Level and Schooling Third Level.  Montego shows FEI Potential.  Movements include shoulder-in,haunches-in, schooling half pass, developing collected canter, counter canter serpentine, pre-pirouette canter circles, medium trot, extended trot, leg yield, beginning work on flying changes. In 2009 Monte competed with both his trainer and owner at First Level. Both received scores of 65%+ at Open *** Rated Shows. Think BLUE! Monte recieved a 66% on his debut at First Level. 8's on his free walk, medium walk, serpentine and trot/canter transitions. Too many 7's to list! 7 on his gaits. All from an "S" Judge in an Open class. Monte won first place in a class of 10! This year, 2010, Monte will be competing Second Level this Spring with his owner!

Jasmine has no problems foaling and has taken with frozen semen on the first try. She has not been shown in dressage yet due to family illness but is ready to go Training level, schooling some 1st and 2nd level movements as well. She is very good at lateral work and has shoulder/haunches in, turn on haunches, leg yield, sidepass and is starting trot lengthenings and half-pass. Jasmine is also trained to drive and was driven singly and in pairs in the Netherlands.

She is a real people horse and very affectionate. Jasmine is definitely the "dominant mare" when turned out with other horses but typically gets along okay with other horses. She is great on trails and not spooky. She is wonderful for the farrier, vet, bathing, clipping, trailering etc.

About the breed, the Friesian (also Frisian) is a horse breed originating in Friesland, a province of the Netherlands. Although the breed's conformation resembles that of a light draft horse, Friesians are graceful and nimble for their size. During the Middle Ages, it is believed that the ancestors of Friesian horses were in great demand as war horses throughout continental Europe. Through the Early Middle Ages and High Middle Ages, their size enabled them to carry a knight in armor. In the Late Middle Ages, heavier, draft type animals were needed. Though the breed nearly became extinct on more than one occasion, the modern day Friesian horse is growing in numbers and popularity, used both in harness and under saddle. Most recently, the breed is being introduced to the field of dressage.
