"Sylkeh" is truly a sweetheart of a mare.
Sylkeh has wonderful movement and such smooth gaits. Her given name by one of her previous owners was 'Bella-Nina Ballerina' as she is so very graceful. She has wonderful Dressage movement. One of her previous trainer's got her to bend at the pole and side-pass in one day, and she had 30 days of intensive training put on her at that time. She was so very willing and the trainer loved her although he was a purely western trainer. These owners just wanted her more collected and the trainer achieved this very quickly.
Her previous training was with a 14 yr old girl and she had continuous training put on her as she wanted Sylkeh for 4-H and Western Pleasure. Sylkeh has mostly been ridden English, but her previous owners did a little neck reining with her to see if she would be suitable for Polo but she is more suited to dressage. They started Sylkeh jumping over cross rails, and although she jumps well, she does not really have the 'Hunter Jumper' conformation, she is just too graceful and Lady-like. And although the previous owners were told she was on the race track, after some research, it was found that she has never been raced. Sylkeh lived on a wildlife preserve in Western SD for a while and was exposed to many different wild animals; she lived next to Llamas & cattle and Sylkeh was not afraid of anything.
Sylkeh was shown the summer of 2007 by a 12yr old girl in Hunter Hack and Hunt Seat Equitation, and although Sylkeh was a little nervous, she did very well. Sylkeh has a wonderful personality and will follow you around the pasture, and if you have a cell phone on you, she tries to take it. She is such a sweet Horse with great conformation and very smooth gaits. She keeps her sweet personality while in heat, and gets on with horses very well, but she seems to prefer her human companions to horses spending her time alone waiting for me to come out and spend time with her. Sylkeh does not have a mean bone in her body and I am so glad to have aquired this wonderful mare.
